>>Buttigieg Promises Action On Airline Delays
(Washington, DC) -- Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg [[ BOOT-edge-edge ]] says his agency is ready to go after airlines that don't do enough to compensate travelers for flight delays and cancellations.
The Department of Transportation under Buttigieg recently proposed a series of rules intended to better protect airline consumers. Airlines have been actively canceling flights and adjusting schedules to try to get ahold of the ongoing problems, in some cases since the spring. Last Friday was the worst day for cancellations since mid-June with over 16-hundred flights canceled, according to data from the flight tracking site FlightAware. The Secretary invited the public to weigh in on the rule and to file complaints when airlines aren't responsive.
