>>One Killed, Two Injured in I-81 Crash

(Harrisburg, PA) -- State police say one person has died and two others have been injured after a multi-vehicle crash Monday morning in Dauphin County. It happened when a pickup hit a disabled box truck on the shoulder of Interstate-81. The person trying to repair the box truck died as the truck was pushed into them. The name of that person has not yet been released. No charges have been filed.

>>Police Called to York Shooting Monday Night

(York, PA) -- York Police are working a shooting that happened Monday night. Officials say the coroner was called to the scene at 500 Walnut Street near Lincoln Highway around 7:30 p.m. An identity or motive in the shooting has not been released. 

>>Giant Food Stores Named as Victim of Fraud by California Women

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Three California women have been convicted of illegally getting and using bank information from several parties, including Giant Food Stores in Pennsylvania. A federal jury indicted the women who were from Oakland, California. The indictment alleged they stole from numerous victims and made wire transfers using fraudulently obtained account information.

>>Fire that Killed Two Young Sister Stemmed from An Electrical Fault

(Hellertown, PA) -- Lehigh Valley fire investigators believe the house fire that killed two young sisters in Hellertown started because of a faulty electrical source. They're calling the fire, which broke out on the morning of March 31st, an accident. A 10 and 15-year-old girl both died after being rescued from the home. A firefighter was also injured.

>>Game Commission Creates New Management Area for Chronic Wasting Disease

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Officials with the state game commission say they've established another Disease Management Area for deer found with Chronic Wasting Disease. It's the fifth area the officials have established in the state and includes portions of Lycoming, Northumberland, Montour, Columbia, and Sullivan counties. It's against the law to remove deer from the DMAs as well as directly feed deer in those areas. The CDC recommends not eating deer with Chronic Wasting Disease.

>>Bombing Call to Dauphin County Sheetz was Fake

(Dauphin County, PA) -- Officials say it was a juvenile who called in a prank bomb threat at a Dauphin County Sheetz store. Lower Paxton Township police said the threat was called in Sunday to the store in the 23-hundred block of Colonial Road. The juvenile has been charged with one count of terroristic threats, which is a second-degree felony.

>>State Senator Wants Medical Pot Patients To Purchase Edible Medicines

(Harrisburg, PA) -- A republican state senator from Erie says he'll soon introduce a bill that would allow medical marijuana patients in Pennsylvania to purchase edible medicines. Those are food products that contain pot. Dan Laughlin says some patients see better time-release results in edible form. Currently, marijuana patients in Pennsylvania can purchase cannabis in the form of pills, oils, topicals, dry leaves, as well as tinctures and liquids.

>>Comcast Purchases Solar Electricity For Mid-Atlantic Region

(Philadelphia, PA) -- Telecommunications giant Comcast has announced an agreement to buy solar electricity for the Mid-Atlantic region. The purchase will include 250 megawatts (MW) of solar electricity from a company called Constellation. Comcast company officials say the solar source will power approximately 12 percent of its U.S. operations and the vast majority of its Mid-Atlantic operations. 

>> Road Work To Delay Drives On I-83 Ramp

(Harrisburg, PA) -- You may have to allow for more time if you're driving near SB I-83 Near Harrisburg in Dauphin County Tuesday. A lane restriction is scheduled on the northbound I-81 ramp to southbound I-83 near Harrisburg. A news release from PennDot says the right lane of the ramp will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. while a contractor performs concrete patching. The work is scheduled, pending dry weather.

>> Cause Of Swatara Twp. Fire Confirmed

(Swatara Township, PA) -- Dauphin County Investigators have released the cause of an apartment building fire Sunday that displaced nearly 50 people who lived there. Swatara Township Fire Chief Michael Ibberson says the fire broke out as someone was cooking in the three-story building in the 700 block of Garden Drive. Fire officials say over 20 of the displaced residents are being sheltered at the Chambers Hill Fire Company until a long-term solution can be found.

 

>>Lancaster-Area 3-Year-Old Dies After Being Swept Over NC Waterfall

(Jackson County, NC) -- North Carolina officials say a three-year-old Pennsylvania girl has been killed after she was swept over a waterfall. The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says in a news release that Nevaeh Jade Newswanger of Denver, Pennsylvania, had been visiting the waterfall with family members. The incident happened just before 6:00 p.m. Sunday night; her body was recovered early Monday morning.

>>Recent Stream Of Drug Overdose Deaths Increase to 4

(Reading, PA) -- The Berks County Coroner says a fourth person has died from an overdose death, adding to three similar deaths from over the weekend. The Reading Police Department says officers had responded to 12 overdose calls on Saturday, three of which were fatalities. Their public safety alert from Saturday stated the overdoses are possibly related to the drugs being mixed with fentanyl. They say if you see signs of an overdose call 911 immediately, even if that person doesn't believe they used an opioid. 

>>Lawmakers Attend Hearing on Opioid Use in Lancaster

(Lancaster, PA) -- Senator Pat Toomey has been among leaders meeting in Lancaster County Monday to address the opioid crisis. Lawmakers said their constituents reported that unemployment contributed to more people falling into addiction, as well as the stimulus checks that provided many people with the funds to purchase more drugs. Senator Toomey says he hopes to pass a bill that would connect Medicare enrollees with treatment as well as let their healthcare providers know about overdoses.

>>Berks 18YO Allegedly Buys AK-47 Gun for 17YO

(Berks County, PA) -- Central Berks Regional police say they've arrested an 18-year-old Spring Township man for allegedly buying an AK-47 for a 17-year-old. Isaiah Hook faces criminal charges after making what police said was a straw purchase at an Oley Township firearms store. Hook is charged with making a false written statement on the form he completed for the purchase at Cro-Arms Guns & Ammo.

>>City Leaders install Fence around Buildings Deemed Unstable

(Reading, PA) -- City leaders have decided some buildings in downtown Reading could be unstable enough to collapse. That's why they've installed temporary fencing in the area of the 400 block of Penn Street. Mayor Eddie Moran says they're evaluating the situation every day and have also contacted an engineering firm to evaluate the damage. The building has been vacant for some time.

>>NAACP Calls On Southern Lehigh To Remove Avatars In Google Classroom

(Bethlehem, PA) -- The Bethlehem NAACP is calling for the removal of certain images chosen by students to identify themselves online. The so-called 'avatars' used by some Southern Lehigh School District students have been called offensive and inappropriate. Students reportedly are using Black avatars with exaggerated facial features from a certain video game. The avatars are visible in an image that is next to a student's name on Google Classroom, an online site used by schools. 

>>Lehigh Valley Woman To Serve Prison Time For Role In Capitol Riots

(Allentown, PA) -- A North Whitehall Township woman will spend 90 days in prison for her role in riots at the U.S. Capitol. Court records from the U.S. District Court in Allentown show Kelly O'Brien plead guilty to charges of entering and remaining in a restricted area last week. Federal agents had searched her home for evidence after acting on a tip from social media.

>>Landlord Sentenced For Lead Contamination Of Tenants

(Williamsport, PA) -- A man from Northumberland County has been sentenced for failing to give his rental tenants information about the hazards of lead-based paint. The lead was discovered when a boy who lived at Dennis Morgan's Sunbury property was found to have elevated levels of lead in his body. The landlord got a year's probation in the case. 

>>Indoor Mask Mandate Returns

(Philadelphia, PA) -- Philadelphia is bringing back its indoor mask mandate next week. The news comes as COVID-19 cases have slowly been on the rise over the past several days. Businesses may choose to bypass the mandate if all employees are vaccinated and if guests also prove they are vaccinated. All schools and daycare centers are included in the mandate as well. Masks will be required in all indoor public spaces beginning on Monday.

>>Phillies Win, Bohm Apologizes

(Philadelphia, PA) -- The Philadelphia Phillies are 3-and-1 after a big comeback win last night against the New York Mets. Alec Bohm had a tough night as he was caught on camera dropping the F-bomb after one of his three-errors. Bohm admitted after the game that he did indeed say 'I (expletive) hate this place' but said he was frustrated and didn't mean it. Still, the team rallied in the eighth inning to win five-to-four. Philadelphia sits at the top of the NL East.
