>Harrisburg Man To Get A New Trial And Release From Prison
(Dauphin County, PA) -- A Harrisburg man who has been in prison for more than 20 years is to be released and will get a new trial in his case. Last year, the Court of Appeals overturned Samuel Randolph's conviction and ordered a new trial saying he was denied his constitutional right to the lawyer of his choice in the original proceedings. Randolph was sent to prison in 2001 after he was convicted for the killings of Thomas Easter and Anthony Burton at a Harrisburg bar.

(Lebanon, PA) -- The Lebanon County District Attorney's office has released more findings about a suspect-shooting last week that took the life of Lieutenant William Lebo. A news release says the D.A.'s initial investigation shows suspect Travis Shaud had a history of mental health issues and had refused treatment. Shaud was killed in an exchange of gunfire at the scene. Two other officers who were hit are now recovering.

(Williamsport, PA) -- State agriculture officials say the spotted lanternfly is once again spreading. The lanternfly has now been spotted in eleven new counties. The state experts say the red and grey bug with black spots is extremely invasive and poses a threat to Pennsylvania's agricultural economy. If you see the bugs, the department of agriculture says to squash them, and especially destroy their eggs.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- The former mayor of Harrisburg is not going to be running for the state's 103rd House District seat. Linda Thompson has withdrawn from the race because of not getting enough petitions to be nominated. There are two other democrats who remain in that race now: incumbent state Rep. Patty Kim and Heather MacDonald, a community advocate from Camp Hill.

(Hampden Township, PA) -- A Florida company that owns Cumberland Technology Park says it wants to hold a community meeting about its future plans. The affiliate of Elysian Partners says it will build "a new traditional" housing development at Good Hope Road and Technology Parkway. The company is willing to see what the community thinks before they move forward as the land parcels are currently zoned for an office park. The meeting will be next Tuesday night at the Hampden Fire Station.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- A jury has found that a 22-year-old man should go to prison for shooting another young man in the back for a $20 drug deal. The attorney for Luis Serrano-Delgado, who was 18 at the time of the crime, says he will appeal. He believes another shooter remains free and that his client is being punished for cooperating with police. Serrano-Delgado could get life in prison when he's sentenced in May.

(Swatara Township, PA) - Public works officials in Swatara Township have closed the intersection of Derry Street and Old Nyes Road because of a sinkhole. It was discovered after heavy rains and flooding hit the area recently. The city engineers don't have a timeline for when the area might be reopened but steel plates have been put in place to help cover the opening.

State officials say local fire fighting forces in communities with fewer than 10,000 residents qualify for over $12,000 each for training and equipment purchases. (Reading, PA) -- U.S. Marshalls have taken a Reading man into custody in Buffalo for a shooting in March that severely wounded a young woman in Reading. Police say Born Onephree, also known as Arthur Blackwell, is in jail in New York awaiting arraignment on attempted murder, assault and burglary charges. The shooting happened at a home in the 1000 block of North Fifth Street.

(North Annville, PA) - North Annville town supervisors have denied approval for conditional use for a proposed solar farm. The Lebanon Solar company had sought the nod to operate a proposed 858-acre solar farm on 12 parcels of land. The supervisors contend the proposal didn't meet zoning ordinances in all the planned areas.

(Reading, PA) -- Roadwork will not begin this week as had been planned for interchanges in Wyomissing and Spring Township. In a news release, PennDOT says the work will now start Monday with the first part of the project lasting until Wednesday. The specific work area will be on Route 222 between Penn Avenue and Paper Mill Road. You can expect restricted driving there from 7 p.m. until six in the morning.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Pennsylvania's whole milk bill has been moving quickly in the state Legislature. Currently by a federal mandate, only one percent and skim milk are allowed to be served in schools. But state lawmakers and farmers want other grades of locally sourced Pennsylvania milk to be offered. The bill was introduced in the House on March 17, and it was approved in committee last week. The Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee approved its version on Tuesday with minimal discussion.

(Lancaster County, PA) -- Mountville Borough Community Park in Lancaster County is set to get $65,000 in new grant funding from the Wolf Administration. The governor's office says the money will help with the construction of new basketball, tennis, bocce, and pickleball courts. Also included in the renovation will be a new pedestrian walkway, improvements to ADA access and landscaping.
