(Las Vegas, NV) -- One of the U.S. Senate's longest serving majority leaders has died. Reid died Tuesday at the age of 82. The Democrat served as the majority leader in the Senate from 2006 to 2014, capping a long political career in 2017. Current Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called Reid one of his "dearest friends" and described him as "one of the most amazing individuals" he ever met. Nevada governor Steve Sisolak released a statement saying "there will never be another leader quite like Senator Reid."
