(Harrisburg, PA) -- A PNC Grant given to Harrisburg Area Community College hopes to help black students who want to study careers as police officers or first responders. The 112-thousand 5-hundred-dollar grant will extend over three years and assist 36 HACC students. The scholarships will cover tuition, books and other fees. A PNC Regional spokesman says the money is being given so that more public safety professionals of color can be hired as a better representation of the communities they serve. HACC officials say they plan to do outreach in the coming year to let potential candidates know about the scholarships.
