>>Rain From Fred To Fall Across Pennsylvania Today

(Pittsburgh, PA) -- The National Weather Service says rain from Tropical Depression Fred will fall across Pennsylvania today. Forecasters say the threat of flash flooding will be greatest over the Central and Western Mountains and eastern Pennsylvania. Dauphin County is among several countries where a hazardous weather advisory has been issued. High winds are not forecast with the system, but it will produce rain across the region before it heads on to New England. 

>>Man Killed In I-81 Harrisburg Crash Was Wanted On Several Warrants

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Police in Lower Paxton Township say the man who was killed this past Friday in a crash on I-81 Harrisburg was wanted on several warrants, including DUI and narcotics sales. Police in Lower Paxton Township say 35-year-old Christopher Robert Bower of Lancaster County led police on a chase after an officer spotted an expired inspection sticker on his car. The chase ended when Bower's vehicle collided with a truck tractor at North Mountain Road. His license had been suspended until 2025. An autopsy is underway.

>>Missing York Woman Found Safe

(Dallastown, PA) -- York Area Regional Police say a Dallastown woman who was reported missing this last weekend has been found and is safe. Sara Locricchio had been last seen last Thursday. She was reported missing Sunday under what police called suspicious circumstances. No additional details on Locricchio's disappearance or where she was eventually located have been made available.

(Chanceford Twp, PA) -- Police in Upper Allen say a woman tried to carjack a vehicle and then dragged the driver of the car when she tried to flee. Twenty-five-year-old Tesla Marie Wetzel from Windsor is charged with several offenses, including assault, DUI and driving under suspension. The driver of the car suffered cuts to his back and was treated at the scene. Two years ago, Wetzel was charged in a police chase that exceeded speeds of 80 miles an hour in Chanceford Township. 

>>Singer Jason Isbell Requiring Vaccinations For Harrisburg Show

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Singer Jason Isbell is requiring all fans who will attend his show at Harrisburg University this month to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test. Isbell's show is scheduled for Harrisburg's Riverfront Park on August 28th. The university has not announced yet how it will check for proof of vaccination.  

>>Hopewell Schools To Require Masks Inside Classrooms

(Hopewell Twp, PA) -- Citing the need to keep students in front of teachers in the classroom, the Hopewell School District will follow CDC guidelines for masking. Superintendent Robert Kartychak says everyone is to wear a mask inside school buildings and classrooms to keep students in their seats in front of their teachers The next Hopewell School Board meeting is next Tuesday, August 24th at 6 p.m.

>>Parents In Shippensburg Vow To Defy Mask Mandate In Schools

(Shippensburg, PA) -- Some parents in Shippensburg say they plan to defy the school board's decision to implement a mask mandate in local schools. The Shippensburg board voted Monday to put the mask mandate in place when school begins tomorrow. Several parents at the meeting said they will not comply with it. Superintendent Dr. Chris Suppo says violations of the mandate will be handled like a violation of the school dress code, but he hopes to work with families to they can avoid disciplinary action.

>>I-81 In Lebanon County Reopens After Tractor-Trailer Crash, Fatal Crash On I-78

(Union Twp, PA) -- All lanes of southbound Interstate 81 in Union Township in Lebanon County have reopened after a tractor-trailer rolled over yesterday. The crash spanned exits 85 through 90. But a separate accident not far away on I-78 resulted in one person's death and a traffic backup that lasted hours. No further details on the I-78 crash, including the identity of the one victim, are available. Both accidents happened yesterday within a few hours of each other. 

>>York County Launches Co-Responder Program

(York, PA) -- York County Commissioners have announced plans to use a nearly $18-million grant to create a co-responder unit along with other human services programs. The co-responder unit teams police with behavioral health specialists to de-escalate situations involving someone who has mental health issues. The program is an extension of York County's Crisis Intervention Team, whose members are trained in de-escalation tactics. This past May, the team successfully disarmed a man who was threatening to hurt himself in West Manchester Township. 

>>Wallaby Is Subject Of Lebanon County Search

(Mt. Zion, PA) -- Authorities in Lebanon County have their eyes open for a wallaby that's on the loose. The marsupial has been spotted in the Mount Zion area recently, and it has attracted the attention of local residents and state conservation officials, who say they want to capture it safely. Park wardens say if you spot the wallaby, please contact the game commission. Wallabies can be kept with a permit in Pennsylvania, but officials say no one in the area has a permit on file. 

>>One Killed In Crash Between Vehicle, Tractor-Trailer On I-78

(Bethel Township, PA) -- One person has died in a crash between a car and a tractor-trailer in Bethel Township on Interstate 78. The Berks County coroner was called to the scene late yesterday afternoon. A person was pinned under the trailer, and two other people were hurt.

>>Officials Searching For Wallaby In Lebanon County

(Lebanon County, PA) -- A wallaby is on the loose in Lebanon County. Officials are trying to find the animal to catch it. Game Warden Derek Spitler says they are looking to catch it in the safest possible way and get it to a facility that can take care of it. The wallaby has been seen in the last several days in the Mount Zion area.

>>Exeter Township Schools Mandate Masks

(Exeter Township, PA) -- Masks will have to be worn by students, staff, and visitors in all Exeter Township schools this fall. The school board voted 6-3 for the mask mandate last night in a meeting that lasted nearly four hours. The administration had recommended mandating masks for any unvaccinated staff and visitors, but making them optional for students.

>>Hospitals Dealing With Staffing Shortages

(Sayre, PA) -- Hospitals across the state are dealing with staffing issues as COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations rise. State health officials say the biggest concerns they're hearing from hospitals regards staffing and fatigue, so they urge everyone to get vaccinated to avoid the risk of hospitalization. As of yesterday, nearly 1,200 individuals are hospitalized with COVID and about 316 of them are in intensive care. To help with the shortage, healthcare systems like Guthrie are offering sign-on bonuses of up to $15,000.

>>Child Rescued From Minersville Fire Dies

(Minersville, PA) -- Officials are reporting that a 12-year-old girl who was rescued from a fire last Friday passed away on Sunday. Officials say last Friday night, Nyah-Ann Barnwell was trapped on the second floor of her Minersville home while it was on fire. It took about six firefighters to rescue her. A total of five children and two adults were saved from that fire. However, the child died from breathing in too much smoke. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

>>Lawmakers Drafting Bill To Counter School Mandates

(Harrisburg, PA) -- State lawmakers are drafting a bill to counter school mask mandates. The bill would allow parents to opt out of having their child wear a mask to school. State Senator Judy Ward says parents are having great concern about the effects of masking students all day. Lawmakers will return to session next month.

>>Major Hospital System Requiring Vaccine For Employees

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Another major hospital system in the state is planning to require the COVID-19 vaccine for its employees. Tower Health officials say the vaccine will be mandated once it gets full approval by the FDA. They added that they will take this step because it's the right thing to do, it's consistent with their mission to provide high-quality care, and it's their vital obligation to keep patients and colleagues safe. WellSpan Health also announced that it will be requiring its employees to get vaccinated or they will be tested regularly.

>>Embiid Gets Supermax Contract Extension

(Philadelphia, PA) -- Joel Embiid will be the face of the Philadelphia 76ers for years to come. Embiid has agreed to a new four-year 'supermax' contract extension worth 196-million-dollars, according to ESPN. The 27-year-old finished second in the MVP voting last year, and he was also named to the All-NBA Second Team. Last season, Embiid averaged more than 28-points-per-game with ten-rebounds each time he stepped on the court.
