>>Harrisburg Area Community College Files for Union

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Harrisburg Area Community College employees are taking another step closer to getting union representation. The Pennsylvania State Education Association filed a petition yesterday with the state's Labor Relations Board to start a union for HACC employees. Some HACC staff say they are seeking representation because they believe the school is not giving them a say about decisions that affect their work. The school responded to the filed petition, saying it is working to maintain a union-free college community.

>>New COVID-19 Guidelines Put Into Place At York College

(York, PA) -- York College is going to be implementing new COVID-19 restrictions this week. The college announced over the weekend that no visitors will be allowed in residence halls, and face masks and social distancing are now required everywhere on campus. Officials say the new restrictions are now in place because an unauthorized student gathering is being linked to over 65 positive COVID-19 cases reported by the college last week. The guidelines will be in effect until at least the end of this week as the college monitors the positive cases.

>>Harrisburg School District Honoring Contest Winner Today

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Harrisburg School District is going to be honoring a contest winner later today during a Black History Month virtual event. The district announced yesterday will recognize high school student Shaniya Robinson at noon today for winning the statewide Black History Month literary writing contest. Robinson's work titled My Brothers and Sisters is going to be featured during the celebration that will be streamed on the school district's Facebook and Twitter sites. The virtual event is also going to feature other literary winners as well as an address made by state Representative Joanna E. McClinton.

>>Cumberland County Man Charged For Eluding Police

(Lower Allen Township, PA) -- A Cumberland County man is being accused of leading police in Lower Allen Township on a chase last year. Christopher Walton from Camp Hill was charged yesterday with failing to yield at a traffic stop and eluding police in a high-speed chase. Authorities say Walton was pulled over this past December on Route 15 for reckless driving before he pulled away at a high-rate of speed.

>>Gettysburg Souvenir Shop Catches On Fire

(Gettysburg, PA) -- Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that damaged a souvenir shop in Gettysburg. The fire happened Sunday morning at Flex and Flannigans gift shop in the 200-block of Steinwehr Avenue. Officials say the flames were under control in less than one hour, but there was about 200-thousand-dollars' worth of damage done to the building.

>>PA Labor And Industry Warn Of Unemployment Fraud

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Pennsylvania's Department of Labor and Industry is again warning about unemployment fraud. They say anyone who receives a 10-99-G tax form for benefits they didn’t apply for is likely the victim of fraud. They add you can fill out a form on their website and shouldn’t wait for a revised 10-99 to file.

>>Police In West York Searching For Gunman In Deadly Shooting

(West York, PA) -- Police in West York are looking for help finding the gunman who shot and killed a Springettsbury Township man over the weekend. Angel Perez was shot at close range on the 400-block of West Market Street and died later at WellSpan York Hospital early Sunday morning, according to investigators. He was said to be at a party with several other people at a nearby business.

>>Boy Remains Critical After Being Shot In Swatara Township Sunday

(Swatara Twp., PA) -- A boy remains in critical condition after being shot in the head over the weekend in Swatara Township. The 12-year-old was shot in the 29-hundred-block of Sycamore Street Sunday afternoon and he was taken to Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center. Police say they believe they know what happened but aren’t releasing that information yet.

>>Wife Arrested For Allegedly Shooting, Killing Husband In Lancaster County

(Strasburg, PA) -- A woman is being accused of shooting and killing her husband in Lancaster County. The shooting happened Sunday afternoon in a Strasburg shopping center parking lot in the first-block of North Decatur Street. A 27-year-old man was found dead at the scene. Police say the man's wife was later taken into custody after a stand-off at their home in the one-hundred-block of Locust Lane in East Drumore Township. She is facing multiple charges including criminal homicide and firearms not to be carried without a license.

>>One Person Dead After Lancaster County Crash

(Columbia, PA) -- One person is dead after a car accident in Lancaster County. The crash happened yesterday morning on Route four-41 in the one-hundred-block of North Front Street in Columbia Borough. Police say a 37-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after his car struck a concrete bridge abutment and caught on fire. The cause of the accident is still being investigated.

>>Man Charged For Crash That Killed Passenger In Bethel Township

(Bethel Township, PA) -- A man is now facing charges for being involved in a car accident that killed another man in Bethel Township. The Bethel Township police announced yesterday that Delson Westley Mitchell was taken into custody over the weekend. Mitchell is being accused of driving under the influence before crashing his car on Route 501 last year. The passenger of Mitchell's vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say he is currently free after posting a one-hundred-thousand-dollar bail.

>>Cumru Township Police Seeking Tips On Hookah Lounge Shooting

(Cumru Township, PA) -- Cumru Township Police are asking the public for help in submitting tips about a deadly shooting at a local hookah lounge. Officials announced yesterday that three surviving victims of the shooting that took place at the Diamonds Lounge on East Wyomissing Avenue earlier this month are not cooperating with the investigation. There is now a ten-thousand-dollar reward being offered for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with any information on the February 5th shooting is being asked to contact Crime Alert Berks County.

>>Demolition Begins For Collapsing Building In Mount Penn

(Mount Penn, PA) -- A building that recently collapsed in Mount Penn is now being picked up by demolition teams. The process began yesterday when crews started tearing down the remains of the building located in the 23-hundred-block of Grant Street. Authorities say the building collapsed due to heavy snow that built up on its roof from the recent winter storms.

>>Pennsylvania GOP Looking To Censure Senator Pat Toomey

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Pennsylvania's Republican Party is looking to retaliate against Senator Pat Toomey for voting to convict former President Donald Trump. They're considering voting to censure the Senator for being one of seven Republicans that voted to convict Trump of inciting the riot at the nation's Capitol on January 6th. Toomey is retiring when his term ends in 2022 anyways and says he did what he thought was right. The Republican Senator added that he would certainly like to think that regardless of his political circumstances, or whether he was running for office again or not, he would do the same thing.

>>Missing Elderly Woman Found Dead

(Cogan Station, PA) -- Police are reporting that an elderly woman that went missing yesterday is dead. Police say Nila Ross, who had dementia, was reported missing by her daughter when she woke up yesterday morning and saw she wasn't home. The 82-year-old's body was found in the woods yesterday evening about a mile-and-a-half away from her home in Cogan House Township. Police say she died from being exposed to the cold.
