>>Schilling Asks To Be Removed From Hall Of Fame Ballot
(Undated) -- Despite not getting the call from Cooperstown Tuesday, the leading vote-getter is saying he wants to be taken off the ballot. Curt Schilling, in a post on Facebook, is asking to be removed from the writers' ballot next year. The former Phillie, who would be in his final year of eligibility, said he would rather defer to the veterans committee "whose opinions actually matter and who are in a position to actually judge a player." Hall of Fame Board Chairperson Jane Forbes Clark said the board will consider the request. Schilling in the past has supported January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol, though ballots had already been submitted by then. He fell 16 votes shy of being elected this year and there were 14 ballots left blank by voters.
