>>COVID-19 Cases Continue To Rise Throughout Pennsylvania
(Lehigh, PA) -- COVID-19 cases are continuing to rise throughout Pennsylvania. Health officials say yesterday, the state total saw an increase of nearly 7900 new cases, pushing it over 563,000. About 57 new deaths related to the virus were added to the death toll, which is shy of breaking 14,000.
Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine says it appears the state's COVID-19 surge is starting to plateau. In the last eight-days, seven of them saw daily case counts below ten-thousand, bringing Pennsylvania's seven-day average to a little over 91-hundred, which is the lowest it's been in two weeks. Meanwhile COVID-19 vaccinations are underway as more than 17-thousand healthcare workers received their first dose out of two. The state is expecting around 30-thousand more doses to arrive this week.
