(Harrisburg, PA) -- Two people are recovering at the hospital after a shooting in Harrisburg. The shooting happened near 13th and Bailey streets yesterday afternoon.

Police say the two victims' conditions are unknown but seem to be non-life-threatening. The investigation is still ongoing.

>>Harrisburg Auto Shop Accused Of Marijuana Smuggling

(Harrisburg, PA) -- A Harrisburg auto shop is being accused of smuggling marijuana. A federal grand jury indicted six men yesterday who were involved in a marijuana smuggling operation between California and Fastlane Auto Sales on Paxton Street. Five of the men are from Harrisburg. The men are also facing charges related to robbery and kidnapping.

(York County, PA) -- The York County Food Bank is hosting a family volunteering day. The organization announced yesterday it will be holding the event this Saturday from ten-in-the-morning until noon. The event will be at the York County Food Bank's warehouse on 254 West Princess Street in York. Volunteers are going to be packaging holiday food boxes for the bank's Give-A-Meal program.

(York, PA) -- York Police are investigating a shooting that injured a 45-year-old man. The shooting happened Wednesday afternoon near West King and South Hartley streets. The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Police say it was the third shooting the city has had in four days.

>>New Single Day Record For New COVID-19 Cases In PA

(Harrisburg, PA) -- The Pennsylvania Department of Health is reporting adding 11,406 new COVID-19 cases across PA. That brings the statewide total to 386,387 and is the largest one-day report since the start of the pandemic. On Wednesday December 2nd, they also reported 187 new COVID-19 related deaths, bringing the death toll to 10,944.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Hospitalizations related to COVID-19 are on the rise in the Commonwealth. Officials with the state Department of Health announced Thursday that there are nearly five thousand people hospitalized in PA who have COVID-19. Most of those patients are over the age of 65.

>>Man Wanted For Incident In Altoona In Custody In Harrisburg

(Harrisburg, PA) -- A man wanted for an incident in Altoona is in custody after being picked up in Harrisburg. Moses Jones was taken into custody on November 15th in Harrisburg, about one week after he allegedly attacked a woman then was stabbed by her. Jones fled UPMC Altoona after being treated for his injuries. He’s being held in Dauphin County on 50-thousand-dollars bail.

(Derry Twp., PA) -- The Milton Hershey School is the first school to opt out of the winter sports season. Officials with the school say they made that decision amid the continued rise on COVID-19 cases in the area. The school also was among the first to opt out of the fall sports season.

>>LL League To Require Masks For Winter Sports Athletes

(Lancaster, PA) -- Officials with the Lancaster - Lebanon League are requiring all athletes to wear masks during practice and winter sports competitions. That requirement excludes swimming, according to league officials. The league’s athletic directors voted to approve that requirement yesterday morning.

(Bern Township, PA) -- A woman is in critical condition after being shot in a Bern Township hotel. The shooting happened at the Econo Lodge Inn-and-Suites on Bernville Road yesterday morning. Police say they found the victim suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. The investigation is still ongoing.

(Reading, PA) -- The Reading School District Administration Building is closing due to the rise of COVID-19 cases. The school district announced yesterday the building's closure located at 800 Washington Street. It will remain closed until Monday. District officials say the building is being deep-cleaned and disinfected during the closure.

(Berks County, PA) -- A person in Berks County is heading into the holiday season a whole lot richer. The Pennsylvania Lottery announced yesterday that a one-million-dollar-winning ticket was sold at the Redner's Quick Shoppe in Bernville. The store is going to get a five-thousand-dollar bonus for selling the ticket, and whoever has won the ticket is being asked to sign the back of the ticket and contact the state lottery.

(Berks County, PA) -- A Kenhorst man is behind bars for allegedly sexually abusing two girls. Andre Keim was arrested yesterday. Authorities say he is being accused of sexually abusing a teenager for about a year and a 12-year-old girl for over four years. Keim's bail is at 250-thousand-dollars, and he is being held at the Berks County Jail

>>Reading Hospital Preparing For COVID-19 Surge

(West Reading, PA) -- Reading Hospital says it is preparing for a surge in COVID-19 cases. Officials announced yesterday the hospital is not at capacity or being overwhelmed by the outbreak of cases. In case, the hospital does go over one-hundred-percent in capacity, it is ready to look for additional bed spaces. Berks County added over 450 new positive COVID-19 cases yesterday.

>>State Hospitals Expecting More Staffing Shortages Next Week

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Two of the state's seven regional healthcare coalitions are expecting staffing shortages next week as COVID-19 cases continue to surge. Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine says there are not an unlimited number of hospital beds or healthcare workers, and they are relying on us to do the right thing. The Southwest and Keystone healthcare coalitions are anticipating staffing shortages of 33-percent or more next week, which is being caused by staff having to quarantine after being exposed to the virus. This comes as the state reported its highest single day increase of new cases yesterday.

>>Update: Police Release More Details In Nine-Year-Old Boy's Death

(Lock Haven, PA) -- Lock Haven residents are shocked as police released more details in the death of a nine-year-old boy, which is believed to have been caused by his aunt. Police say they found the child's body on November 30th and his aunt, Jamie Lynne Jackson, told officers the child hurt himself days ago. The autopsy showed the child was abused, had a significant amount of bleeding on the brain, and blood in his spinal fluid. Police say Jackson tried to cover up the crime scene by washing the boy's clothes and carpet of his bedroom. Neighbors say they're heartbroken by the news and the boy didn't do anything to deserve death. Jackson is being charged with homicide, assault, tampering with evidence and more.

>>Governor Urges Federal Government To Extend Unemployment Programs

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Governor Tom Wolf is urging the federal government to extend unemployment programs that are set to expire on December 31st. Wolf says without an extension, three-quarters of a million Pennsylvanians will be without any unemployment benefits, which will hurt the commonwealth both socially and economically. The governor emphasized the number of COVID-19 cases are only going to continue surging in the coming weeks, putting the public and economy in danger. Wolf ended his message by asking federal officials to act swiftly as the CARES Act was important aid.
