David Wright and six members of his swing and jazz style dance band, "The Wright Touch" from Washington, D.C. will open the 2018-19 Fine Arts at First Concert Series at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 21 S. Bedford St., Carlisle on Sunday, October 14 at 3 p.m. Vocalist, saxophonist, producer, and bandleader David Wright retired as a member of the "President's Own," the United States Marine Band, in 1994. During that time he served 6 presidents. From the White House to the Library of Congress to all the Smithsonian Institution's museums and galleries, "The Wright Touch" has entertained for special events at every major Washington, D. C. venue since the 1980's. David Wright's professional artistry and experience always create a connection with his audience. The ensemble will present a concert from The Great American Songbook drawn from its White House dance band arrangements. Each song is introduced with an interesting story and performed with energy and stylistic excellence. The event is free. A freewill offering will be received, and a dessert reception to greet the musicians and purchase their recordings will be held following the band's performance.
