U.S. Representative Tim Murphy is stepping down this month. Murphy previously announced he would retire at the end of his term but said yesterday he will be leaving effective October 21st. His resignation comes following reports that he urged his mistress to get an abortion. The married, pro-life lawmaker's girlfriend ended up not being pregnant. Murphy represents the 18th District, which includes parts of Greene, Washington, Allegheny and Westmoreland counties.
