St. Nicholas Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church will host its annual Serb Fest on Saturday, September 16, 2017, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the church complex located at 601 South Harrisburg Street, Swatara Township.
At the festival, which is open to the public, traditional Serbian food will be served including sarma (stuffed cabbage), chicken paprikas, cevaps (caseless sausages), and roasted lamb – all available to eat in or take out. Serbian pastries, palacinke (crepes filled with cheese), walnut rolls, and strudel will also be sold.
There will be live entertainment throughout the day with performances by the St. Nicholas Tamburitzans, Kolo Ensemble Vojvodina, the Serbian Singing Society Josif Marinkovich, the St. Sava Youth Choir, and Serbian orchestral groups. Also included will be church tours, kid’s crafts and games, theme baskets, and books and gifts for sale, as well as a theme basket raffle.
Parking is free all day long. Admission is free until 6:30 p.m., at which time the event will transition to an evening dance with music featuring Orchestra Pobeda of Pittsburgh, PA. Admission is $10.00 for adults; $5.00 for children 5 to 15; children 4 and under are free. Refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the dance.
