Gov. Shapiro, Garrity Campaign in Reading

READING, Pa. - Pennsylvania’s race for governor continues to heat up as incumbent Gov. Josh Shapiro and Republican challenger State Treasurer Stacy Garrity work to energize supporters ahead of Election Day. Both candidates have been making stops across the Commonwealth, highlighting sharply different visions for Pennsylvania’s future.

During a campaign rally in Reading earlier this year, Shapiro urged Democrats to channel their frustrations into action at the ballot box. Speaking to supporters at the Berks County Democratic Committee headquarters, the governor focused on issues including healthcare, education, job growth, and public safety. He also touted his administration's record, citing increased funding for public schools, investments in violence prevention, and economic development initiatives across Pennsylvania.

Shapiro also criticized former President Donald Trump and argued that Pennsylvania needs leadership that will stand up for working families. He portrayed Garrity as closely aligned with Trump and encouraged supporters to organize, volunteer, and vote in November.

Meanwhile, Garrity has been campaigning across the state with a focus on lowering costs, reducing regulations, expanding energy production, and providing tax relief. The Republican nominee has argued that Pennsylvania families are struggling with rising expenses and says her administration would prioritize economic growth and government accountability.

The campaign has also featured spirited debates over healthcare, education funding, voter ID laws, energy policy, and the economy. Recent polling has shown Shapiro holding an advantage in the race, though both campaigns continue an aggressive statewide push to reach voters during the final days before Election Day.

As Reading and Berks County remain important political battlegrounds, both candidates view the region as critical to their path to victory. With Election Day approaching, voters can expect continued campaign stops, advertising, and outreach efforts from both sides as the race enters its final stretch.
