A standoff in Marysville, Perry County, on Monday (July 6) led to the arrest of Zachary Conroy, who now faces multiple charges, including attempted homicide. According to the Perry County District Attorney, Conroy, 43, was apprehended after a tense standoff with police that lasted several hours.
The incident began when Conroy was reportedly seen physically and sexually assaulting a woman in a yard. Two Waste Management employees intervened, pulling Conroy off the unconscious victim. Following this, Conroy barricaded himself inside a nearby home, prompting a police response. The Pennsylvania State Police Special Emergency Response Team eventually took Conroy into custody. During the arrest, Conroy allegedly assaulted a state police K-9, though the dog was not seriously injured.
Conroy is facing a slew of charges, including aggravated assault, attempted rape, and resisting arrest. He has a history of violent encounters with law enforcement. In 2024, Conroy was shot by police during a domestic incident in which he allegedly assaulted an officer. The shooting was later deemed justified by authorities.
