In Carlisle, Pennsylvania, a missing child was found safe after being abducted by her mother, Sehighya Smith, who does not have custody. The incident occurred during a supervised visit at a facility on South Hanover Street on Wednesday (August 13). Smith allegedly took her nine-year-old daughter, Milan Gibson, prompting a child abduction alert in Cumberland County.
According to CBS21, authorities considered the child endangered due to previous concerns about Smith's care. Approximately ten minutes after the alert was issued, the Susquehanna Township Police Department located Gibson safe around 7:30 p.m. The child was then reunited with her legal guardian.
The Carlisle Police Department reported that Smith may have been traveling in a 2021 black Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback. She faces criminal charges for the abduction and is scheduled for a preliminary arraignment on Thursday morning, with a preliminary hearing set for Wednesday, August 27.
