On Monday (June 2), a vehicle crash in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, left over 700 residents without power. The incident occurred around 9:14 a.m. on Old Philadelphia Pike in West Lampeter Township when a black SUV collided with a utility pole, causing it to fall. Witnesses reported that the SUV then went over an embankment, and a passing tractor-trailer became entangled in the hanging wires, bringing down a second pole.

The driver, identified as Shane McCracken, 42, reportedly fled the scene but was apprehended by police in the Cedar Acres development. According to CBS 21, McCracken was evaluated by a drug recognition expert and found to be likely under the influence of a controlled substance. He faces multiple charges, including receiving stolen property, DUI, and careless driving. Authorities also noted that McCracken's driving privileges had been suspended since 2008.

As of noon, power had been restored to nearly all affected residents, though Old Philadelphia Pike remained closed between Chateau Hill and Red Leaf Lane while crews worked to clear debris and repair the downed poles. According to Local21News, PPL reported that power was expected to be fully restored by 5:30 p.m. The crash is under investigation by West Lampeter Township police.
