Search For Woman In Sinkhole Now Considered Recovery Effort

(Unity Township, PA) -- The search for a woman believed to have fallen into a sinkhole in Pennsylvania is now considered a recovery effort. In an update yesterday evening, State Police said it is unlikely that 64-year-old Elizabeth Pollard will be rescued unless there "is a miracle." First responders and other experts have been looking for Pollard since early Tuesday morning after a deep hole connected to an old mine opened up near where she was last seen, apparently looking for her cat. Rescuers had gained access to the mine but they had to be pulled out after it became unstable. Officials are still using cameras to look for Pollard but they are now only operating from dawn until dusk instead of around the clock.
