PepsiCo, Inc. has announced that it will be closing down its production operations in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, resulting in the loss of over 100 jobs. The company filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry, indicating that 127 employees at its facility at 941 Dana Drive in Lower Paxton Township will be laid off on December 28, 2024.
The company stated that the decision was made in an effort to optimize its manufacturing network. Despite the cessation of production, the Harrisburg location will continue to have sales, delivery, and warehouse operations teams. ABC27 reported that PepsiCo also plans to cease transport operations at its Carlisle location, although it is currently unclear how many positions will be affected there.
This news comes shortly after PepsiCo announced the closure of its Chicago bottling plant, impacting 150 workers. The company cited "physical limitations" of the 60-year-old Chicago facility as the reason for its closure.
PepsiCo has assured that supporting its employees during this transition remains a top priority and is committed to continuing to serve the community.
