Boating will be temporarily restricted in certain areas of Lake Pinchot in Gifford Pinchot State Park, York County, Pennsylvania, due to a bridge demolition project. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that no boating traffic will be permitted to cross underneath the bridge on Rosstown Road at Boat Mooring area #1 on Wednesday, October 9. Signs advising the public of the temporary closure and floating buoys will be in place as workers demolish the bridge.
However, boaters can still access the lake through alternate boat launches, including Boat Mooring Area #2 at 2200 Rosstown Road, Lewisberry, and Boat Mooring Area #3 at 1001 Alpine Road, Wellsville, according to the park. The bridge, which spans Beaver Creek and Pinchot Lake in Warrington Township, is being replaced as part of a nearly $1.5 million project by Doli Construction Corp. of Chalfont, Pennsylvania. The bridge is expected to remain closed through April 2025, according to PennDOT.
