Man Wanted For Shooting That Killed Teenager

Harrisburg police have identified 30-year-old Rashad Neal as a suspect in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Antoine Byers last month. Neal is facing multiple felony charges, including illegal firearm possession, in connection with the incident that occurred on the 1700 block of Regina Street on August 12.

According to the Dauphin County District Attorney, the shooting has been determined as an act of self-defense after investigators found that Byers had fired shots first at another individual following an altercation. Despite this, Neal, who was previously convicted of murder in North Carolina, is not allowed to possess a firearm, leading to the charges against him.

Local21News.com reports that Neal and another man, Jalannie Hill, exited a gray Nissan Altima and pointed handguns at Byers. Surveillance footage showed four muzzle flashes from a gun held by Neal.

ABC27.com adds that Neal has not yet been arrested and multiple attempts to contact him have been unsuccessful. It was also reported that Neal had disabled his Facebook account after learning of Byers' death.

The case is still under investigation and Neal's preliminary hearing is yet to be scheduled.
