City Council Fires Back After Mayor's Claim Over Market

(Harrisburg, PA) -- The Harrisburg City Council is firing back after Mayor Wanda Williams claimed members want to delay reconstruction of the Broad Street Market. In a response sent yesterday, the Council said they are investigating because the mayor's process following an emergency declaration due to a rat infestation at the site was not complete or transparent. It went on to claim the mayor did not award a contract for the project to a local business, and called her office a "revolving door of city staffers" due to multiple vacancies. The Mayor's comments were made after three council members sent her a letter with several questions about the emergency, something she called "petty concerns."
