Dauphin County Schools To Let Out Early Due To Heat

Several elementary schools in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, are implementing early dismissal due to high temperatures forecasted to exceed 90 degrees. The Central Dauphin School District announced that students at six of its elementary schools will be let out early today and tomorrow. The decision comes as a response to HVAC issues at these campuses, which are exacerbating the heat's impact.

Before dismissal, students will be rotated through designated cool zones within the schools. Lunch will be served before students are dismissed. Additionally, afternoon kindergarten classes have been canceled for both days.

The district is currently developing a plan to address the HVAC issues in all six affected buildings. More information will be shared once the plan is finalized, according to Superintendent Eric Turman. The early dismissal and subsequent measures aim to ensure the safety and comfort of students during the heatwave.
