State Auditor Looks To Make Audits Easier To Find

Pennsylvania's Auditor General, Timothy DeFoor, has launched a new website aimed at making state audits more accessible and understandable to the public. The announcement was made earlier this week in Harrisburg, PA. The website is designed to house more than 50,000 audits, including those involving Volunteer Fire Relief Associations, municipal pensions, county row officers, state government programs, and performance audits. Each year, the department performs approximately 4,000 audits.

"Our new, dynamic website was designed with Pennsylvania taxpayers in mind," DeFoor said. "We all need to know how our tax dollars are being spent to be able to hold state and county government accountable. This website offers a variety of new tools and resources to make it easier than ever to find an audit and understand the impact it has on your community."

The website also provides resources to help Pennsylvanians better understand the audits and their implications. It includes a search function that allows users to find audits by keyword, date, or county. In addition to the thousands of audits produced each year, the department may also review allegations of improper use of state tax dollars.

DeFoor, who is Pennsylvania's 50th Auditor General, believes that taxpayers deserve accountability, integrity, and transparency. His office has already released dozens of audits this summer, all of which are now easily accessible through the new website.
