Capitol Building Evacuated After Power Outage

The Pennsylvania State Capitol Building in Harrisburg was evacuated yesterday morning following a power outage. The main building was cleared out as power fluctuated in other buildings throughout the complex. A faint smell of smoke was reported in the building's halls, leading to the evacuation. ABC27 reported that people were slowly allowed back into the building after the evacuation.

The power outage occurred at 11 a.m. and was restored by 11:20 a.m., leading to a temporary evacuation of about 30 minutes. After the evacuation, building employees were permitted to return to their offices, and public access to the Capitol was restored, according to PennLive.

Witnesses reported a gas smell and smoke in the air in the garage below the building, according to CBS 21 News. Capitol Police have not yet provided information on the cause of the power outage. This is a developing story and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
