Sturla Withdraws From State Rep. Race

After serving for 34 years, Pennsylvania State Representative Mike Sturla has announced his withdrawal from the upcoming November election. The Democrat, who has represented Lancaster County in the Pennsylvania House, has decided to step aside to spend more time with his grandchildren.

Born and raised in Lancaster, Sturla has been a prominent figure in local politics. He began his political career on the Lancaster City Council, serving from 1987 to 1990. He then moved on to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, where he has served since December 1, 1990. His current term ends on November 30, 2024.

Sturla's professional experience includes being the founder of Sturla Brothers, Incorporated Construction and Contracting and the founder of Aarchitrave. He earned his B.S. in Environmental Design from the University of Kansas in 1979, according to his Ballotpedia profile.

The Lancaster County Democrats will determine Sturla's replacement on the ballot. The general election is scheduled for November 5, 2024.
