Severe weather has caused power outages across Central Pennsylvania, leaving thousands of residents without electricity. The counties most affected include Dauphin, Perry, and Cumberland.
According to PPL Outages, the breakdown of power outages is as follows: Cumberland County has 1,321 customers without power, Dauphin County has 4,581, and Perry County has 4,355. Juniata County is also affected with 945 customers experiencing outages.
The power outages occurred as a result of a thunderstorm that swept through the region, bringing strong winds and heavy rain. The storm caused numerous downed trees, poles, and wires, leading to the power disruptions.
Crews are currently working to restore power as quickly as possible. While some outages do not have an expected repair time, the majority of outages in Cumberland and Dauphin counties are estimated to be fixed by 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to PPL.
