Two Arrested In Death Of Infant

Emily Dickinson, 20, and Joshua Wooters, 19, have been arrested and charged with criminal homicide and related charges following the death of their newborn child in Fulton County, Pennsylvania. The infant was found unresponsive on the street on March 11th, less than 24 hours after Dickinson reportedly gave birth in their apartment.

According to the Fulton County Coroner's office, the cause of death was 'exsanguination from the umbilical stump'. Dickinson allegedly did not clamp the umbilical cord to stop the bleeding after cutting it. She reportedly told police that she was hallucinating during the birth and that the baby was moving and screaming due to the loss of blood. After checking the baby's pulse and finding it had died, Dickinson allegedly threw the baby and the placenta out of the window and went to bed.

Wooters, who was present during the birth, allegedly told police that Dickinson picked up the baby as if someone was picking up 'dog poop' and tossed the infant. He also reportedly denied knowing anything about the incident multiple times when questioned by police.

Both Dickinson and Wooters were denied bail due to the nature of the charges and are currently being held at the Bedford County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 10th.
