Maxxwell Ray Redman Jr., a Lancaster County resident, has been sentenced for setting fire to a Pennsylvania bridge in 2018. The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office announced that Redman will serve 14 years of probation, complete 250 hours of community service, and pay $1.02 million in restitution for the arson on the Enola Low Grade Trail bridge.
The fire, which occurred on April 12, 2018, destroyed the bridge and cost nearly $3 million to rebuild. Witnesses at the scene provided pictures that captured Redman and another person leaving the area where the fire started.
Redman's attorney, George Marros, stated that his client did not realize he had set the bridge on fire and only learned about it later on the news. The fire had smoldered and ignited after Redman left the scene.
Despite the severe financial penalty, both Redman's stepfather and Marros acknowledged that Redman likely will not be able to pay his full restitution. However, Redman expressed his willingness to take full responsibility for his actions and pay back everything he did.(
