Health Officials To Provide Potassium Iodide Pills To PA Residents Living Near Nuke Plants

(Undated) -- State health officials are offering to replace expired potassium iodide tablets for Pennsylvania residents who live near active nuclear power plants. Authorities say the tablets - which are being distributed free of charges - will be distributed on June 12th to those living and/or working within ten miles of an active nuclear power plant. Health officials say the tablets can protect the thyroid gland against harmful radioactive iodine due a nuclear power plant containment failure. For more information about the program and where you can pick up the tablets, go to health.pa.gov.
