>>Pennsylvania Lawmakers Eye Small Pharmacy Protections
(Harrisburg, PA) -- Pennsylvania lawmakers are pushing a plan that would protect small, independent pharmacies. The new proposal would create a pathway for pharmacists to file complaints against the pharmacy benefit managers who have an outsized influence on the pharmacy marketplace. The legislation would also require more transparency on prices, discounts, and the like. State Rep. Jessica Benham says the PBMs have squeezed smaller, independent pharmacists. She says if small pharmacies completely close, many smaller communities across Pennsylvania won't have any local drug stores to turn to.
