>UPMC Cardiologists Break New Ground Again
(Harrisburg, PA) -- UPMC officials say they've successfully completed a new type of aortic valve replacement using a catheter. The medical leaders in Harrisburg say an 82-year-old woman from Perry County was the patient. She has been discharged and is recovering well. Doctors at the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute were also the first in the region to perform open heart surgery and the first to perform coronary artery balloon angioplasty.
