>Planning Commission Will Tell Federal Regulators "No" On Cuffs Run Project
(Lancaster, PA) -- The Lancaster County Planning Commission has voted 7-to-1 to endorse a letter to federal regulators to oppose a dam and power turbine on the Susquehanna River. Local people who don't want the proposed York Energy project say the facility would change the region's farmlands, homes and natural and recreational resources. The pump storage facility at Cuffs Run would cost two-and-a-half-billion dollars. Federal Energy Commission regulators will continue to accept public comments through March 31st.
