Hearing Opens For Man Accused of Killing Wife Nearly 40 Years Ago

(Lancaster County, PA) -- Prosecutors and attorneys for Jere Bagenstose want to gather more witnesses for his trial for allegedly killing his wife nearly 40 years ago. Attorneys from both sides told a Lancaster County judge Tuesday, they need more time since some of the previous witnesses have died. Bagenstose was arrested two years ago and charged with killing his wife Maryann. She was last seen at her Pequea home in 1984 and her body was never found. The judge Tuesday scheduled a suppression hearing for the week of April 22nd. Court officials speculate that the trial could begin in October.
