LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — UPDATE | Fire officials now say the Martin's Country Market fire is a multi-million dollar loss.
Two hundred firefighters from at least 45 fire companies are on scene, and most of them are volunteers, fire officials said.
Emergency crews were alerted to the fire Wednesday morning after an employee walked into the building, smelled smoke and called 911.
Fire officials say the blaze got into the roof system of the building, which, due to the height and the material, likely fed the fire.
At this point, all interior firefighters have been pulled out from the inside of the building and are attacking the fire from the outside.
Fire officials said they don't believe there is any danger to air quality from the smoke, but they are continuing to monitor the situation.
Currently, there is no danger to the general public, officials said.
