Tuesday: Stabbing incident causes school lockdown in Lancaster County

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — An elementary school was placed on lockdown while law enforcement investigated reports of gunshots and a stabbing in the area.

According to Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department (NLCRPD), the call came in at around 9:03 a.m. on Tuesday for the report of a "stabbing" near the 2300 block of Lawnwood Court in East Petersburg.

Authorities state that initial reports to 911 indicated that "gunshots" were heard in the area which were thought to have been related to the stabbing.

This, police say, prompted the East Pete Elementary school to be placed on temporary lockdown, residents to shelter in place, and roads nearby to be closed while officers investigated.

When they arrived on scene, officials report that a 42-year-old woman was found with stab wounds, and that the 36-year-old male suspect had ran from the scene.

The woman was sent to the hospital and is believed to have non-life-threatening injuries.

Further investigation by law enforcement revealed that no firearms or gunshots were involved or associated with the stabbing.

Officials say they have since found and arrested the suspect and have lifted all security measures.

The identity of the suspect and victim are both currently unknown.
