Ambulance Service to Change Hands in Lancaster County

(Lancaster, PA) -- Lancaster officials say a deal that's been years in the making will soon allow a county ambulance service to change hands. The Municipal Emergency Services Authority of Lancaster County, also known as "MESA," will take over for Northwest EMS starting February 4th. County leaders first formed the idea for the area-wide service almost six years ago. MESA will be funded through mandatory fees for property owners and employers. The service's first member communities include the townships of Conoy, East and West Donegal and Mount Joy, as well as Elizabethtown and Marietta Boroughs.
