William Penn High School Task Force Makes Recommendations

(Harrisburg, PA) -- A task force studying what to do with the abandoned William Penn High School has given its recommendations to the Harrisburg School Board. The panel told officials Tuesday night that they believe the over 100-year-old historic building should be turned into a training academy. Programs would focus on the arts and athletics and would be run through private partnerships. The school district rescinded the contract to demolish the building last week. Instead, a nearly two-and-a-half-million-dollar deal was approved to remove clean out, repair and secure the building. The task force says the money to fund the work could be raised by the community.
