Lancaster General Cited By State For Health Code Violations
(Lancaster, PA) -- State officials have cited Penn Medicine's Lancaster General Hospital for several health code violations. Those include a failure to ensure sterilization equipment was available for surgeries. The citations came after state inspectors made a surprise visit to the hospital this past November. A review of medical records found procedures were delayed or canceled after surgical teams reported holes found in sterile packaging and instrumentation trays that weren't processed after a prior surgery. Inspectors also observed employees not wearing masks inside the operating room.
