Study: Some Low-Carb Diets May Cause Weight Gain
(Cambridge, MA) -- New Harvard research finds some low-carb diets may actually make you gain a few pounds. A new study out this week looked at results from over 120-thousand adults across several decades. It found those on low-carb diets that emphasize healthy fats and plant-based proteins have a better chance of keeping off excess weight, while those on low-carb diets that include meat and unhealthy fats gained an average of five pounds over four years. The senior author of the study says the key takeaway is that "not all low-carb diets are created equal when it comes to managing weight in the long-term."
