>>Asthma Treatment To Reduce Food Allergies Under FDA Review

(Washington, DC) -- An asthma treatment that could reduce food allergies in children is one step closer to approval. That could happen by the end of March. Early data from a federally funded clinical trial showed that the antibody injection, marketed as Xolair, helps recipients consume more of peanuts, eggs, milk and cashews without allergic reactions. It's been on the market since 2003 as a treatment for allergy-induced asthma, but is now under review by the FDA to be used as a treatment for allergic reactions like anaphylaxis in case of accidental exposure.
