New State Law Targets Porch Pirates
(Harrisburg, PA) -- People who are caught stealing packages from people's property will soon face stricter fines and jail time. A first offense, where the value of the mail is less than 200-dollars will be considered a summary offense. If the mail is worth more than 200, the crime will be a misdemeanor. A third offense of mail worth more than two-thousand dollars will be a felony. Pennsylvania is now among eight other states that have made porch pirating a felony. The new law goes into effect in 60 days.
