>>State Rep Looking To Increase Penalties On Releasing Exotic Animals

(Kiski Township, PA) -- A Pennsylvania lawmaker is looking to set stiffer penalties for people who release exotic animals. GOP State Representative Abby Major is proposing a measure that would make a purposeful or negligent release of a pet like an alligator or poisonous snake a first-degree misdemeanor, up from a third-degree offense under current rules. Major represents the district where more than one alligator was spotted in the Kiski River this year. She says those kinds of animals can be dangerous for people and for the local environment.
