A special election is being held to fill U.S. Representative Tim Murphy's current term in the 18th district. Governor Tom Wolf announced yesterday that the election will take place on March 13th. At least four Republicans and five Democrats are vying to replace Murphy, whose last day was Saturday. The anti-abortion lawmaker resigned after texts surfaced indicating he asked his mistress to have an abortion when he thought she might be pregnant. The 18th district includes parts of Allegheny, Westmoreland, Greene and Washington counties.
