York has a new pot law

York Mayor Kim Bracey has signed a bill that reduced penalties for possessing small amounts of marijuana.

A city councilwoman introduced the bill, Article 718, earlier this year and it was voted on 4 to 1 in City Council last week.

It means the penalty in York City will be $100 for the first offense, $250 for the a second and $500 for a third, over a five year period.

Anything after that would become a criminal matter. The court can suspend the fine in exchange for community service.
