National Weather Service confirms a weak twister

The National Weather Service has confirmed that a E-F-zero tornado touched down in Lebanon County this past weekend.  The twister touched down in Avon around 7:40 Saturday evening. 

Weather service officials say the tornado touched down for less than a minute near Short Road and traveled to the east-northeast for about a tenth-of-a-mile.

The tornado is estimated to have had a maximum wind speed of 65 miles per hour and was about 25 yards wide.  

One large tree and the limbs of several other trees were damaged but there were no fatalities or injuries.
