A Major League Baseball umpire is being credited for saving a life on the Roberto Clemente Bridge. John Tumpane was walking on the bridge yesterday when he saw a woman climb over the railing. He told a witness to call 911 and then grabbed her. The woman repeatedly begged Tumpane to let her jump but he and another man restrained her until rescue crews arrived. After the woman was safe, Tumpane went to the Pirates-Rays game at from PNC Park, where he was the home-plate umpire.
