Real ID extension for PA

Pennsylvania is getting more time to comply with federal REAL ID laws. PennDOT announced last week that the Department of Homeland Security will not begin enforcing the new rules until October 10th.  At that time, people without a compliant ID will need a passport or other form of identification to get into military bases or federal buildings.  Reports indicate PennDOT plans to request additional extensions until the new IDs are available, which may not be until 2019.
