Governor Tom Wolf is supporting an investigation into the discovery that a million-dollar surplus from the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia was not returned to state taxpayers. Pennsylvania funded ten-million dollars in event costs, but the leftover money was reportedly spent on bonuses for staff and volunteers. Republican lawmakers called for the audit yesterday and Wolf agreed saying he is troubled by the situation and wants to be sure taxpayer money is always spent fairly and properly. State Auditor General Eugene DePasquale is gathering information but released a statement yesterday saying, "The public has a right to know that their tax dollars were spent appropriately."
