Reports of child abuse are on the rise in York County. The Department of Human Services says there were one-thousand-994 calls last year. Two-hundred-and-four of those calls were substantiated, 74 were cases of repeat abuse and nine of those were substantiated. However, officials say with the child protection laws a rise was expected. In December 2014 laws requiring some people to report went into effect. Six children died in York died last year due to abuse while 46 children lost their lives statewide.
